At LVS Oxford, we appreciate that new pupils may need a gradual transition into the school. Our therapy and pastoral teams work closely with all our pupils, parents/carers and professionals to ensure that the needs of each individual pupil is met during their transition phase.
On joining LVS Oxford, you may start on a reduced timetable, which is built up over a number of weeks and until the six-week review meeting so that you can discuss your progress and plans can be made to overcome any issues that may have come to light.
The school day at LVS Oxford starts at 9am with morning tutor time, followed by lesson 1, morning break and lessons 2 and 3. Lunch is staggered so the dining hall remains a calm environment for all our pupils.
We encourage all our pupils to take advantage of our many groups, which includes a sports/football field, trim trial and trampoline. At 1:15pm, pupils spend time back in their tutor groups and we encourage them to use this time to participate in tutor activities, do some quiet reading or raise any concerns with their tutors. Lessons 4 and 5 follow tutor time and the school day finishes at 3.30pm.
On Friday afternoons, we offer an enrichment session and you will be able to choose from activities such as coding, chess, film club, art, cooking and football. This is followed by a lower school assembly (the Sixth Form have a separate assembly in the Sixth Form building), during which we recognise pupils’ achievements with certificates.
On Fridays, the school day finishes at 2.30pm.
