At LVS Oxford, we support our pupils to develop calming strategies suited to the individual to help deal with increased anxiety. With a dedicated speech and language room and a second separate therapy room, our specialist staff are key members of our school, there to support pupils on a daily basis.
Our therapy is integrated across the curriculum, with pupils able to access specialist (1:1), targeted (group work) and a universal provision (blended across the curriculum).
All pupils have access to support from the therapy team in developing life skills through a programme that follows a ‘small steps’ approach, meaning pupils may begin with role play activities in small groups to develop their confidence in different social situations, such as ordering in a restaurant.
The ultimate goal is for pupils to increase skills of independence and become more confident in accessing the local community.
